ABOUT US

Hancack Trading Co., Ltd. was founded in May 1975 and has a history of more than 35 years. In 1975, our first year in business, we had successfully contracted an order in the amount of over US$200,000 for live eel exported to Japan for Taiyo Gyoyo Kabushiki Kaisha.

Hancack began to build its credibility with airlines. The recognition of the company's quality and service by Taiyo Gyoyo Kabushiki Kaisha consolidated the relationship between Hancack and major airliners that operated the charter cargo aircraft (Boeing 707 was the largest cargo plane to transport 23,000 kilos of eel at that time, which worth more than two hundred fifty thousand US dollars or over ten million NT dollars.)

Hancack Trading Co., Ltd was the first exporter to charter an aircraft to export live eel from Taiwan to Japan for Taiyo Gyoyo Kabushiki Kaisha, which was, moreover, reported in both Taiwanese and Japanese newspapers for its importance in bilateral sea food industry. This, indeed, contributed successfully to Hancack's reputation and corporate image.

Hancack's large airfreight volume gained the attention to major airliners, and through frequent interactions that ensued, Hancack was consigned by Cathay Pacific Airway Hong Kong to produce crystal wineglass for its in-flight use. This set off Hancack's business diversification and led to the manufacture and distribution of crystal and glassware.

Cathay Pacific Airways Hong Kong was our first client for crystal wineglass. We gradually built our position as a leading exporter for crystal and glassware in Taiwan with a distinguished list of clientele, including United Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Canadian Pacific Airline, Air Canada, Dragon Air, China Airlines, Eva Air, Air Canada, Far Eastern Air, Mandarin Air, Uni Air, TransAsia Airways……, etc.

In 1980s, these major airliners asked Hancack to develop 8% and 16% lead content crystal wineglass to reduce cost. As a result, Hancack established research and development capabilities that allowed the company to further establish its pivotal position in Taiwanese glassware industry. This also led the company’s business expansion to major hotels and distributors nationwide.

In 1984, Hancack began to supply crystals to Japanese department store chains in Taiwan, such as PRESIDENT and MING YAO, and imported Libby Glass from the U.S. and crystal from eastern Europe. By 1987, our export business of crystal and glassware escalated to more than eight million US dollars, and received an export excellence award from the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Over a decade of endeavor in expanding the travel retail market for Lalique has bolstered its brand awareness in Asia.
